How I discovered what women really want
When I started fashion sewing, I made a skirt for my wife. I had no idea how much she would appreciate it. She loves that skirt! She wears it often. You can see her wearing it on the left side of my web site banner.
For each of my three granddaughters, I made a wrap skirt. I chose cotton fabrics with printed themes that reflected their personal interests (puppies, kittens, and woodworking). The skirts were a big hit with the girls.
I made a layette gown for a pregnant coworker for her office party baby shower. Later, she sent me a picture of her infant son wearing it. He looked so cute and she clearly loved the gift.
Another pregnant woman in my office asked if she could hire me to maker a stylish maternity top. Having never made one before, I declined to be hired, but offered instead to make it as a gift. Well, she just loved the top. You can see the top in Threads magazine (November 2005 Number 121 Page 69).
Do you see the picture that's emerging here? I have discovered the perfect gift for any woman in my life — my wife, my granddaughters, and my friends. They are all wearing or using one-of-a-kind garments, which I made especially for them.
As you might have guessed, I use the word "woman" to mean any female of any age. It saves words.
